In this heartfelt, authentic ad from Iris, we watch as a young transman finds his voice - and his name - in an unexpected place. When people transition, it’s pretty common that their name changes along with their pronouns, haircut, and their personal style. Picking the right name after a lifetime of feeling wrong about the one you have, in a world full of reminders of the person that you’re not, is a difficult and sometimes extremely isolating task. Starbucks has been used all over the world to test out new names for trans people. What's Your Name beautifully, simply, and authentically represents the struggle of trans people trying to become their best, more honest selves. Without a lot of detail or explanation, we clearly see James’ struggle to be recognized by his real name. Director Nick Davies handles the subject with care and kindness, showing how simple it can be to respect trans people and make them feel seen and heard. The film was the result of Iris' winning pitch for Channel 4's Diversity in Advertising Award.
