But as phonograph turned into record player and 8-track into cd, we weren’t simply witnessing a catalog of devices, but the effect those devices had on people. Youth, sexual, and Civil Rights movements played out in each frame, transforming the film into something far greater than a mere history lesson. The film proved that great advancements in music are both technical and cultural revolutions.
