We see the facial expression of each student getting more and more frightened, as well as students running away and barricading themselves. Finally, we reveal the reason for all the desperation, a masked man holding a gun pointed at a student. The end message is “This is what 3D printed guns look like.” Cultural/Context information for the jury With 3D printers, getting a gun could be as easy as downloading it. A person could find a schematic for a firearm online, plug it into a 3D printer with the right materials, and that’s it — a gun is created on the spot. No background check required, no serial number to trace the gun if it’s used in a crime. The fact that anyone with access to a 3D printer could potentially create a gun is alarming — especially as gun violence is already so high in the U.S. with mass shootings happening at least once a month. Please tell us about the social behaviour and/or cultural insights that inspired your campaign 3D printed guns are easy to make and almost impossible to stop. More than 100,000 Americans have downloaded plans to print 3D weapons. 3D gun files can be easily downloaded and printed by anyone, creating untraceable firearms. In most states, this is completely legal. So in order to ban 3D printed guns, we created a video showing the dangers of it that redirect people to a microsite where they can contact their congressman or congresswoman to drive forward national legislative action. Social platforms play a big role because the website traffic increases 20% after each share given.
