案例简介:Photo by Lisette Poole @lisettepoole / The Kiki Romero migrant shelter is a converted gym in Ciudad Juárez that opened in April to respond to the increasing numbers of women and children being sent back to Mexico from the U.S. Many families had crossed into the U.S. from the Mexican state of Tamaulipas, which stopped accepting deportees with young children in March. American authorities then flew the migrants 600 miles away, to El Paso, opposite Ciudad Juárez. When writer Nina Strochlic @ninasabina24 and I arrived in Ciudad Juárez in April, we met dozens of women at the Kiki Romero shelter who had been expelled from the U.S. under Title 42, a pandemic policy allowing immediate expulsion for migrants entering into the U.S. For more on our story “Stuck at the border, migrant mothers confront a complex maze” tap the link in our bio.
