For nearly 15 years, I lived overseas, exploring worlds beyond those I assumed to know. I desperately wanted to understand the lives of others, to better sense where our feelings converge and differ. I arrived back in the United States as the pandemic altered all we took for granted. Grounded, I allowed the curiosity that once propelled me far and wide to guide my steps across more familiar landscapes. As winter showed me a thousand violet shades across a field of dormant berries, I became excited by thoughts of all the other things I don't yet know.
