    案例简介:Korean artist So Youn Lee’s (@soyounlee) ethereal paintings imagine a new universe inhabited by Mango, her name for her cute, cartoonish characters.“I gave my characters the name Mango to reflect how I feel about them. I was doodling one day and what came up was some weird-looking face with big eyes. It recalled the memory of when I first tasted a piece of mango fruit. The texture was so foreign, so weird at first, but slowly, I started liking it. I wanted my characters to be weird at first glance but become familiar and connected to the viewers over time.”“When I was young, I was surrounded by cartoons and animations. I love the simplicity of the forms and the exaggeration in the cartoons and animations but still how precisely they could tell the stories and emotions,” says So Youn, who lives in Los Angeles.“My characters have big eyes because that’s how I felt when I came to the USA. I didn’t understand the language nor the culture.
