案例简介：Entry Summary Parkinson’s disease is much more prevalent and serious than people think. Although there are some treatments that partially manage symptoms, there is no cure and little money to fund research for a cure.It’s not rare, or a disease that only affects the old, or ‘just’ manifested by having the shakes. In fact one person is diagnosed every hour of every day in Australia. 10% of them will be under 40, and 20% between 15-65. The disease is a degenerative neurological disorder which affects the control of body movement.The predominant effect of Parkinson’s Disease is that your brain mixes up the messages it sends to the body. As a result easy things become difficult. This radio spot demonstrates the impact of the disease by mixing up the words in the sentences – showing that even simple tasks become complicated when you’re suffering from Parkinson's. Brief Explanation The film is set in an operating theatre in a hospital. First, the surgical team prepares the patient for surgery, locking his head into a frame. A male voice explains that this procedure is one of the best options for a victim of Parkinson’s Disease. Then the surgeon cuts circles into the patient’s scalp, drills holes into his skull, and inserts electrodes into his brain. As the surgeon adjusts the electrodes, the camera moves around to reveal the patient’s face. He is wide awake, completely conscious, and still talking – it’s his voice we’ve been hearing all along. A series of graphics explain that there is no cure for Parkinson’s Disease and calls for donations. A voice speaks:Imagine wanting to have this done to you…We see the surgeon powering up an electric drill, then drilling two large holes into the patient’s skull.Two holes drilled into your skull…The surgeon prepares the hole, then pushes a long electrode into the patient’s brain.Electrodes inserted, deep into your brain…Then the surgeon adjusts the position of the electrode.
