Having such intense volcanic activity allowed Iceland to expand its reliance on geothermal power for heating and energy production, and today almost all of Iceland's electricity is produced from renewable sources. It was a subject of "The End of Trash," my article on circular economy solutions, in the March issue of the magazine. By designing waste out of the production system, circularity aims to keep resources and materials in use. While promising, the truth is there isn't one single solution. Yet each one of us can make a big difference through more conscious choices and staying informed.
