案例简介:Photo by @jaredsoares / Kennedy Lewis stands with his horse, Diamond, and his dog, Smokey, in Selma, Alabama, on February 26, 2015, before Selma’s 50th commemoration of Bloody Sunday, the Voting Rights Act, and the 1965 Selma to Montgomery marches. On February 26, 1965, activist and deacon Jimmie Lee Jackson died after being shot several days earlier by Alabama state trooper James Bonard Fowler, during a march in nearby Marion, Alabama. Voting rights activist James Bevel called for a march from Selma to the state’s capital in Montgomery as a way to refocus the outrage in the community. The first march took place on March 7, and Alabama state troopers attacked the marchers with clubs and tear gas after they passed over the county line, and the event became known as Bloody Sunday.Please follow me @jaredsoares for more stories centered around community in the United States.
