Dissatisfied with this policy, Save the Children designed an app that capitalises on the millions of smartphone users in China. Harnessing the power of location-based technology, the app allows parents to blast out a photo of the missing child within seconds to every smartphone within a 1000 kilometre radius. If a nearby citizen spots the child, they can alert parents and send their location with a simple click.
