案例简介：Photos by @simonnorfolkstudio | This beautiful place was given UNESCO World Heritage status in 2006, and I had visited the St. Simeon Church (Arabic: كنيسة مار سمعان العمودي‎), outside Aleppo, Syria, a couple years earlier. After the church was finished, in 491 A.D., it stood as the largest in the world—an attraction for centuries. The site was home to the 5th-century Christian monk known as Simeon Stylites, who was said to have spent 47 years in prayer on top of a pillar (above). In May 2016 the site was seriously damaged in a Russian air strike. With conflict continuing since that time, I have no idea what this once enchanting place looks like today.
