在 @ tamaramerino_photography上关注我以了解更多信息。
Photo by @tamaramerino_photography / Tocuato Lopez is a lifelong cave resident; his family has been in the Guadix caves for four generations. The caves offer shelter from the unbearable summer heat, but more important, they provide a sense of deep-rooted community. "I'm very proud of being from the cave and still living in the cave,” says Tocuato, a father of four. “I will die in the cave." Guadix is considered the European "capital of caves" for its approximate 2,000 underground houses, spread over an area of 200 hectares (500 acres). Most are occupied, with about 4,500 citizens. The caves have been used for thousands of years. The security and isolation that prehistoric populations found in these primitive natural shelters would later be sought by modern cultures, like some in southern Spain. This photo is part of my series Underland, which documents communities living underground or in caves around the world.
