Photo by Daniella Zalcman @dzalcman / Nearly a year ago, I began the first of multiple lockdowns at my parents' home in Las Vegas, Nevada. Zoom was still a novelty, and I remember friends and family speculating that the world would return to normal by summer. As Passover approached, I wanted to see how Jewish people would celebrate a holiday that's fundamentally rooted in boisterous communal gatherings with shared food, drink, and lots of singing. I dialed in to as many seders as I could—from London to Johannesburg to San Diego to Buenos Aires—hosted by friends, family, or complete strangers. Here, friend and fellow photojournalist Elizabeth Herman holds up a sprig of karpas as she discusses the seder plate from her home in Brooklyn, New York. Thank you to @insidenatgeo for the support!Check out Nat Geo's link in bio for more on this story.
