案例简介:
案例简介:Photos by @edkashi / One New Jersey family continues to work through the pandemic. Alexandra Marie Airey is a mental health worker. She says: "When asked about my experience this past year, I was flooded with a multitude of feelings—grief and sadness for lives lost and a way of life that no longer exists. Hope. Gratitude. Frustration. Anger. Guilt. Joy. You name it—I've probably felt it. As a mental health worker, I facilitate group therapy sessions for adolescents with mental health disorders. Many of these group members lack a healthy support system or the coping skills needed to cope with the trauma they've experienced. Adding in a pandemic to the equation only made matters worse. I am constantly reminded of the importance to simply allow ourselves to feel. Constantly taking it moment by moment, showing up authentically for myself, and in return, I am to do the same for my friends, family, patients, and the world." Anthony Cianci, grocery clerk. I was told by Anthony’s mom about the impact of the pandemic on her son, who is an active, special needs adult. She says Anthony misses playing Special Olympic sports. He's a Boy Scout, and most of the recent meetings have been virtual. He helped coach basketball and soccer teams in the past. He used to go out with a special needs adults group every Friday. He wants to visit his aunt in Virginia, but that is on hold. The world seems to be on hold, though Anthony remains a very positive person.Jenna Cianci is a primary school teacher. She says: "Every year I feel like I fall in love all over again. Because of COVID there are so many changes in my classroom. Desks are spread apart. No more sharing supplies. I liked having them sit in groups. We are no longer allowed to sing in school. They are very good about the masks; social distancing, they have to be reminded. I am happy to be in school teaching. I remind them that things will change, we just don't know when. I am blessed to do what I do each day."
