This is artist Roy Lohr, photographed in 2014 at his home in Truth or Consequences, New Mexico. He spent years building a spaceship sculpture, fitting for the story of Truth or Consequences, a town of around 6,000. The town was named Hot Springs until a TV show by the name of Truth or Consequences held a competition in which the first town that changed its name to Truth or Consequences would be the location from which the show aired. That was that. More recently, Virgin Galactic constructed a spaceport, a terminal for commercial flights to space, about 40 minutes outside town.
